Summary | 0001326: mapFields is missing -parallelSource and parallelTarget, -parallel extremly slow (only useful for cavity case)
Description | I have noticed that the flags -parallelSource and -parallelTarget have been removed for mapFields. The replacement(?) -parallel is extremely slow and can not be used for larger cases.

The mapFields requires your processor domains to be as convex as possible for efficiency. |
|
If the -parallelSource and -parallelTarget are preferable to actually running the mapping in parallel under some circumstances we could re-introduce support for the original options but it increases complexity and maintenace overhead significantly so we would need very good reasons to do so. Could you provide timings for the options for a range of cases and decompositions to demonstrate the need to re-introduce the old options? |
|
The parallel mapFields uses conservative mapping ('cellVolumeWeight') by default which is slow since it has to do full tet-tet overlap calculations. The old behaviour is like the 'direct' method. Does using this method help? |
